Ms Wang Ruoxing
Mphil Candidate

Date: 27 Feb 2012 (Monday)
Time: 4:00pm - 6:00pm
Venue: KK Leung Room 1105

Abstract:
The speaker‘s research is mainly talking about the localization of BL manga in mainland China. As its readers are commonly ladies, the research therefore shall focus on its readership, Fujoshi, exploring how and why Japanese BL culture is accepted by Fujoshi in mainland China. In the past few months, the speaker conducted a fieldwork in Hangzhou, and she identified ten informants and conducted in-depth interview with each of them. Therefore, the speaker concludes three possible reasons of the prevalence of BL manga in China, 1) absence of a father, 2) ‘no-dating 'rule in puberty, 3) regard man as superior to woman.
